the pitchJoin our team as a Health & Safety Advisor, where you will assist the HSE Manager in the day-to-day management of the department. You will provide support and advice to operational teams on all aspects of health and safety management, develop health and safety documentation, and help deliver a safety culture of continual improvement. Your key responsibilities will include implementing the project H&S strategy, providing guidance and monitoring to project teams, promoting a positive safety culture, supporting site teams with planning and risk assessments, delivering training, leading incident investigations, managing hazard reporting, and supporting the development of HSE management systems.

- Implement the project H&S strategy set by leadership, ensuring legal, contractual and procedural compliance.
- Provide clear advice, guidance, monitoring and reporting to project teams on all HSE duties, legislation, risks and safe practices.
- Promote a positive safety culture, challenge unsafe behaviours/conditions, and respond promptly to enquiries.
- Support site teams with planning, risk assessments, method statements, audits (internal/external), and compliance with HSE systems and standards.
- Deliver training (inductions, toolbox talks, briefings) and maintain a visible site presence to coach and improve performance.
- Lead incident investigations, ensure timely reporting, corrective actions and shared learning.
- Manage hazard/observation reporting and closure of actions. Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, regulators and supply chain.
- Support development and upkeep of HSE management systems, ensure site compliance, and contribute to monthly reporting for leadership.
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications Required:
Working Requirements:This role requires shift work; flexibility to work shifts is essential
- Technician Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health working towards Chartered status/ Member of International Institute of Risk & Safety Management
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
- Managers and Professionals CSCS card
- A detailed knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance.
- Construction and civil engineering industry experience and in particular CDM 2015
- A detailed knowledge of the risk assessment process.
- Effective computer skills; knowledge of the latest editions of Microsoft Office software and other company and discipline specific software applications.
- Good interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Knowledge of major civil engineering and geotechnical engineering terminology and processes
- Experience of deep foundations, piling techniques and processes
- Internal health and safety auditor qualification
- Experience of HAZID and HAZOPs and working through to delivery
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- Accident Investigation Training
- Experience of working in a marine environment
